It seems like every day another state is in the news allowing for medical marijuana and cannabis programs. What ramifications do these state regulations have on workers’ comp? Join us for our annual review of the current regulatory trends and a review of the clinical aspects of marijuana usage along with the potential implications for the work comp industry.
Pharmacy costs continue to represent a substantial portion of overall spending in healthcare. Claim closures and reductions in compounds and opioids have helped to lower some of these costs, however, so-called “price opportunists” continue to emerge along with specialty treatments and new, innovative therapeutics. We will discuss some of the leading pharmacy cost drivers including significant increases in AWP, new developments in dispensing and billing channels, and categories of high impact pharmaceuticals.
Most people agree, the U.S. healthcare delivery system is broken. But it is not all bad news. Case Managers are on the front line when it comes to establishing trust, engaging the injured worker and providing support during their recovery. During this session we discussed the Injured Worker Advocacy Movement and the important role the case manager plays in it. The webinar provides insight into how case managers can best advocate for and establish trust with the injured workers they serve and also outline the damaging effects a lack of trust and advocacy can lead to.
In this session we reviewed the epidemiology of the opioid crisis with a focus on the impact on employers.
